Illegal timbers, gold jewellery, construction materials and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
On 20 October, a combined team captured a total of 1.8064 tonnes of illegal teak floor and timbers in a warehouse of the furniture factory in South Dagon Industrial Zone 2, according to information. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 21 October, an on-duty team under the management of the Customs Department stopped and examined a vehicle on Myawady- Hpa-an-Yangon Road.
Officials confiscated K24,898,560 worth of nine goods and 5.932 tonnes of steel pipes that exceeded the Imported Declaration (ID) from a Howo Sino Tractor Head with a trailer (estimated value of 40 million). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Afterwards, on 22 October, a combined team under the supervision of the Rakhine State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized K256,800,000 worth of illegal gold jewellery which was covered by black plastic bags on a wood-boat at an entrance of the creek in Maungtaw township, according to information. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
A total of 41.252 tonnes of illegal teak worth K13,613,160 was nabbed in the Toungoo district and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, six arrests (estimated value of K336,503,944) were made on three consecutive days from 20 to 22 October, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
