Illegal timbers, industrial machinery, foodstuffs and vehicles confiscated

The on-duty team under the management of the Kachin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force at the Nantsiaung combined checkpoint captured an unregistered JCB wheel loader worth K308 million and an unregistered Bull wheel loader (worth K450 million) near Pinlong village on 4 August. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Additionally, a Toyota Caldina worth about K3 million without an official document was seized near the junction of Waizayanta Street and Thanthuma Street in Thingangyun township on 4 August. The action was taken as per relevant rules and regulations.
On 6 August, a combined team led by the District Forest Department confiscated a total of 11.024 tonnes of illegal teak worth K5,150,640 in Bago district and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, the Myawady District Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force impounded two Mitsubishi Canter box trucks (estimated value of K40 million) carrying 10,000 bottles of M-150 energy drink and 4,800 packs of Oishi green tea worth K5.9 million without official documents near Myaynigon junction in Myawady township. The action was taken under the Customs procedures.
A combined team led by the Township Forest Department conducted inspections in Myeik township on 7 August and seized a total of 9.021 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,353,270 in Kanthaya village and Boke Creek. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
A total of nine arrests were made on 4, 6 and 7 August, with an estimated value of K813,403,910, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/ MKKS
