Illegal timbers, industrial materials, consumer goods and vehicles confiscated

The Myawady District Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force made inspections on warehouses in the Myawady farming zone and captured 2,400 kilogrammes of photo papers worth K6.4 million without official documents from a warehouse and an on-duty team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint nabbed two kinds of goods worth K4.25 million including 4,500 packs of vermicide (blue) without official documents from a vehicle heading to Yangon from Myawady on 8 July. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Additionally, the on-duty teams impounded four kinds of goods worth K11,242,932 including 4,508 kilogrammes of empty glass bottles, 4,000 kilogrammes of Ohgiya cheese sticks worth K4 million and 135 bottles of Takasago lime essence worth K13,356,000 without official documents from a Nissan Tractor head and a trailer (estimated value of K60 million) and 6,500 kilogrammes of plastic cups with lid worth K6,454,500 that exceeded the quantity mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel (estimated value of K30 million) heading to Yangon from Myawady near the Famous filling station in Phayagyi town. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On the same day, a combined team at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint confiscated a total of 0.214 tonne of timbers worth K236,060 without official documents that were hidden from under the bags of cauliflowers, watermelons, onions and rice from a Foton minibus (approximate value of K35 million) travelling from Mandalay from Muse. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, the combined teams seized two kinds of goods worth K3 million including 2,400 packages of smart fabric softener without official documents from a Yutong express bus (approximate value of K25 million) heading to Yangon from Hpa-an at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint and three kinds of goods worth K6,608,400 including a total of 0.14 tonne of teak doors without official documents from a Mitsubishi Fuso bus (estimated value of K25 million) travelling from Mandalay from Muse and a total of 0.250 tonne of timbers worth K751,200 from a Mitsubishi Fuso bus (estimated value of K25 million) travelling from Mandalay from Muse at the Yepu permanent checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs procedures.
A Honda Fit worth K3.5 million without official documents was seized near the Pinlon housing in Dagon Myothit (North) Township. The action was taken under the respective procedures. Therefore, 18 arrests (estimated value of K259,799,092) were made on 8 July, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
