On 19 April, combined inspection teams led by the Department of Customs in Taunggyi conducted inspections. They seized a motorcycle spare part, car cushion covers, home electrical appliances, and consumer goods (estimated value of K18,010,000) which were not declared in the Import Declaration, from a vehicle left for Mandalay from Kengtung on the 4th-mile Thittaw Combined Checkpoint.
On 20 April, an unregistered Toyota Probox (estimated value of K4,000,000) was also seized during an inspection conducted by the combined inspection team on duty at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint in Mon State. Similarly, motorcar spare parts and used clothes (estimated value of K52,035,802), which were not declared in the Import Declaration, were seized at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint.
In addition, on 21 April, two vehicles carrying 1.2522 tonnes of illegal timbers (estimated at K26,375,660) were seized under the Forest Law in Hlegu Township. Similarly, 51.1734 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated at K10,549,683) were held under the Forest Law in Bago District, Toungoo District and Thayawady District yesterday. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, the Anti-illegal Trade Steering Committee stated that 14 arrests (estimated at K110,971,145) were made on 19, 20, 21, and 22 April. — MNA
