Initiate the concept of non-violence for the interests of people

The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.
According to the General Assembly resolution of 15 June 2007, International Day is an occasion to “disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness”. The resolution reaffirms “the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence” and the desire “to secure a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence”.
Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man. Everybody is responsible for protecting their relevant countries staying away from violence. Any type of violence such as home violence, the violence underground and aboveground and so on do not benefit society.
In this regard, authorities need to raise awareness of non-violence on the advantages of non-violence. Everybody needs to hold up the non-violence policy. They do not have any chance to physically and mentally encroach on any others. The acts of attacking others using languages, religions, political doctrines, racism and others can be identified as a violation of the rights of others.
Actually, everybody needs to follow the acts of Mahatma Gandhi who opposed the British colonialists who had occupied and ruled India. It was the famous way pioneered by the great Indian leader in opposing the colonialists. He did not use imported utensils throughout his life but encouraged domestic ones. These were very useful among the Indian people. These acts showed his nationalistic spirit which activated others in the independence struggles of India in the past.
Currently, Myanmar people can modify the tactic of India’s Mahatma Gandhi in conformity with the society. In the extract, the concept is not to violate the rights of others and other measures. It is one of the practices of democracy. At the same time, everybody needs to emphasize mutual respect for each other. Such policies of non-violence and mutual respect can shape society more prosperous. If so, four cardinal virtues — loving-kindness, compassion, empathy and equanimity — will flourish in society.
All in all, people in society should sustain a good concept of non-violence against each other forever. As Myanmar is not under colonialists now, the concept should be initiated internationally as well as locally but politically for serving the interests of the people and for enhancing its diplomacy in friendly relations with global countries.
