The 3-day event, Myanmar International Textile and Machinery Fair 2023 which features more than 100 Myanmar and Chinese textile businesses including Made-in-Myanmar product shows is in progress at Yangon Convention Centre, Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon, as of 8 December.
Yangon Region Government Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Deputy Minister for Commerce U Min Min, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, personnel from Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, China and officials attended the opening ceremony.
“The textile and garment industry which has flourished before 2023 stands as a big sector that employs nearly 500,000 workers. Hosting such an expo is very important because it can bring business links, new clients and new machines and technological inventions,” Yangon Region Chief Minister addressed in his opening speech.
The exhibition features more than 100 booths of 28 brands from China, textile and apparel businesses, shoe and bag making businesses and apparel and accessory businesses. Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) and foreign garment factories which are members of Korea Garment Association in Myanmar (KOGAM), Japan Garment Manufacturers Association in Myanmar (JGMA) and Hong Kong Myanmar Manufacturers’ Association (HKMMA) have also participated.
The event also showcased international clothes, shoes and bags, which are highlighted as Made-in-Myanmar produces in booths as well as in fashion shows, and promoted and introduced local SMEs.
