It is necessary to conduct training for athletes to have systematic skills and techniques as well as advanced techniques for international Olympic sports events: Vice-Senior General

Sufficient providing of nutritious foods for servicemen from the institute and trainees is very important to fully implement the objectives of the institute, said Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win in inspecting the Defence Services Self-Defence and Sports Institute in Yemon Cantonment yesterday afternoon.
At the Defence Services Self-Defence and Sports Institute in Yemon Cantonment, the commandant reported on the implementation of four military building tasks, and conducting the training courses in training years.
In his instructions, the Vice-Senior General said that conducting the training courses on basic and advanced sports and self-defence to Tatmadaw members from the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) aims to turn out selected Tatmadaw athletes and outstanding soldier athletes as selected players of Myanmar national team so as to contribute to the enhancement of Myanmar’s sports standard. During the period from 1997-98 to 2022-23, 37 self-defence and sports courses were conducted to turn out 412 Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) selected players and Myanmar national selected players.
The Vice-Senior General instructed the commandant to turn out selected national players via Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) selected players for bringing honour to the State during his assigned term and to set records on his endeavours during the period. In turning out the selected players, it is necessary to conduct training for athletes to have systematic skills and techniques as well as advanced techniques for international Olympic sports events. Sufficient provision of nutritious foods for servicemen from the institute and trainees is very important to fully implement the objectives of the institute. Hence, manageable-scale livestock farming tasks must be done in line with the policies of the State.
The Vice-Senior General and party viewed training of trainees in Taekwondo, boxing and volleyball events in the gymnasium and training sessions for trainees in the football ground. Then, he viewed round the training aid for sports events.
On arrival at Defence Services Orthopaedic Speciality Hospital (500-bed) in Mingaladon Township, the Vice-Senior General viewed round officers, other ranks and families receiving medical treatments at the hospital, asked about their health conditions and presented foodstuffs and assistance.
The Vice-Senior General presented cash awards for health staff serving duties at the hospital to officials. — MNA/TTA
