State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing hears the report on the upgrading work of Tachilek Airport and its runway in eastern Shan State on 29 April 2023.

Necessary preparations must be made for upgrading the airport to enable aeroplanes to land and take off, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in inspecting the upgrading of Tachilek Airport and its runway yesterday afternoon.
An official reported on the progress in upgrading the runway of the airport.
After hearing the reports, the Senior General said that necessary preparations must be made for upgrading the airport to enable aircraft to land and take off. Construction tasks must be completed on schedule. Clearing the bushes must be carried out for beautifying the airport.
The Senior General underscored that Tachilek Airport was closed for more than 20 days in March and April this year due to smog from setting fire to hillside farmlands. Hence, it is necessary to restrict setting fire to the hillside farmlands and straws in the farms in Shan State (East). The Senior General stressed the need to implement the highland farmlands in the hillside farmlands to fade out the slash-and-burn system, the Senior General noted.
