K30 billion worth of two tonnes of Ice (Methamphetamine) was seized in Nawnghkio Township of Shan State (North), according to the Myanmar Police Force.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team, including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force, searched and examined a Fuso 12-wheel vehicle driven by Naing Oo, accompanied by Chit Kaung, travelling from Yatsauk to Nawnghkio near Magyi village in Nawnghkio Township at 7:30 pm on 17 January. The police captured 2,000 kilograms (two tonnes) of Ice (Methamphetamine) valued at K30 billion that were hidden in paper cartons and beer cartons.
According to the investigation, the police arrested Zaw Myo Lin (aka) Ko Lin, who was tasked with transporting the seized drugs at 1 pm at the Yatsauk tollgate.
The investigation revealed that the seized drugs were intended to transport abroad via sea through Ayeyawady Region from Shan State.
Legal action has been taken against the offenders, and an investigation is underway to identify others involved in the criminal chain. — MNA/MKKS
