K51.87 bln worth of drugs, prohibited chemicals seized in Shan State, Yangon

The Myanmar Police Force seized K51.87 billion worth of Ice (methamphetamine) and restricted chemicals in Shan State and Yangon region, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of Anti-Drug Police Force members searched an Alphard driven by Yan Naing Soe (aka) Yan Naing, accompanied by Ma Ei Ei Khin (aka) Ma Ei, and Ma May Oo Ko Ko (aka) May Oo Kyi Lin, seizing 65 kilogrammes of Ice (methamphetamine) at 1:30 pm on 3 December.
After interrogating them, the Police Force also arrested Nay Lin Htun (aka) Naw Nor (aka) Kyaw Soe and Soe Htun, second lieutenants from the AA involved in drug trafficking, in Shwepyitha township at 12 pm on 4 December.
Similarly, police arrested Htun Lin (aka) Pyone Cho, a lieutenant from the AA, with 865 kilogrammes of Ice at a warehouse in Shwepyitha township at 12:30 pm on the same day. Zaw Min Htwe (aka) Than Win and Ma Thin Myat Swe (aka) Yin Yin Hla were arrested at the Aungmingala highway bus terminal compound at 7 pm on the same day. Afterward, police arrested Thar Gyi (aka) U Hla Win, who received the drugs in Yangon and transported them abroad via sea, at a hotel in Toungoo at 2 pm on 6 December, seizing 1,140 kilogrammes of Ice and 800 kilogrammes of Caffeine (restricted chemicals) from a Canter box owned by Thar Gyi (aka) U Hla Win in South Okkalapa township at 10:30 am on 7 December.
The combined team also arrested Soe Paing (aka) Soe Soe, Htay Lin Zaw, Kyaw Htay Soe, sergeant U Kyaw Han and privates Kyaw Lin San and U Htun Nu from the AA, along with a Taninthyi 1 cargo ship carrying drugs, at the Sinma Laik Shipyard in Kamayut township at 2 pm on 9 December.
It was revealed that the 2.07 tonnes of seized drugs were intended for transportation abroad after being transported from Shan State to Yangon, managed by Colonel Kyaw Myat Oo (aka) Tha Tha (aka) Wai Tha Htun from the AA.
The police have taken legal action against the drug-smuggling gang, and an investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators of the crime chain. — MNA/MKKS
