MoC Union Minister inspects export businesses in Yangon

Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn looks into a fishery product processing factory in Yangon Region on 9 December 2023.

Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn conducted inspections at two export businesses in Yangon Region yesterday.
He first visited Golden Bay Limited, a fishery product processing factory in Gyogon Ward, Insein Township, and then New Golden Gate (1991) Co Ltd, a bean exporting company located in the Shwepyitha Industrial Zone.
While inspecting the manufacturing processes, the Union Minister stressed the significance of prioritizing products for the local market to stabilize prices and boost exports. He highlighted the need for collaborative efforts between the government and business owners to secure foreign markets and ensure ethical trading practices.
Encouraging entrepreneurs, the Union minister advocated for obtaining Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification as a crucial step toward accessing international markets.
Later in the day, he gave a speech at the 32nd Annual General Meeting of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) at the National Theatre (Yangon) on Myoma Kyaung Street in Yangon.
In the evening, the Union Minister held meetings with UMFCCI President U Aye Win, Myanmar Rice Federation President U Ye Min Aung, and representatives of the Myanmar Pulses, Beans, Maize, and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association at the Ministry of Commerce office to explore ways to enhance exports. — MNA/NT
