MoEE Union Minister inspects Mawlaik hydropower project, Daungyway main substation

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo, accompanied by Sagaing Region Administration Council Chairman U Maung Maung Lin made an inspection tour to Mawlaik hydropower project to be implemented on Chindwin River about 1mile from Mawlaik Township of Sagaing Region yesterday.
The officials of the project briefed the Mawlaik and Manipur hydropower projects. Then, the Union minister talked about the initial study of the power generating rate of the Mawlaik project with a total of 800MV (8 100MVgenerators) and 3,800kilowatt hour per year. He also said it should conduct a study to distribute power by connecting to the national grid. Moreover, the 380-MW Manipur hydropower project implemented on the Manipur River of Chin State will produce 1,903 million kilowatt-hours and if it is connected to the national grid, it can supply electricity than before. If the projects are completed, they can meet the electricity demand of Chin State and Sagaing Region.
Then, the Union minister and party visited the Daungyway 230KV Main substation in Amarapura Township. The Union minister instructed the necessary things based on the presentation of the heads of the power plant.—MNA
