MoHT Union Minister attends ASEAN MRA-TP Knowledge Session

The ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangements on Tourism Professional ASEAN MRA-TP is being implemented with member countries. Aiming to develop ASEAN MRA-TP widely in the Myanmar Tourism Industry, the knowledge session of the ASEAN MRA-TP was held with a hybrid system at the Jade Hall of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism on the evening of 11 August.
MoHT Union Minister Dr Htay Aung, the directors-general, officials, departmental staff, the National Tourism Professional Body-NTPB, members of the Tourism Professional Certification Board-TPCB, officials and staff from regional and state offices and responsible persons from the Myanmar Tourism Federation and associates joined the session.
The Union minister discussed that ASEAN Tourism Ministers have signed a circular on the contract of Protocol to Amend the ASEAN MRA-TP for additional verification of adding new 21 MICE jobs and 11 event jobs, in addition to 32 types of hotel and tourism jobs in the ASEAN MRA-TP agreement; there would be a total of 64 types of jobs under the ASEAN MRA-TP mechanism as per the contract and that the ASEAN MRA-TP was implemented in Myanmar with the leading of the National Master Trainer and Master Assessor who were key players. There will be strengths and weaknesses in the execution of the ASEAN MRA-TP, thus everyone needs to cooperate in the examination and verification of them. Only then, would we all be able to work together in a balanced way in implementation processes, according to the trade in services, other agreements and frameworks. Therefore, the Union minister urged scholars from various fields to actively participate in the discussion and make recommendations.
Afterwards, departmental officials discussed and presented the implementation of the ASEAN MRA-TP and its prior processes, the facilitation of the travel of tourism professionals, the teaching of vocational education courses and the conducting of trade in services, respectively. Then, the Union minister gave the concluding remarks after attendees discussed the matters and asked what they wanted to know. — MNA
