MoI UM discusses role of media in building a nation

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn cordially greets students and faculty members at Yezin University of Agriculture yesterday.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn presided over a discussion on the topic of “The Role of Media in Building a Nation” at the Convocation Hall of Yezin University of Agriculture in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. First, a documentary video clip on preventing the risk of media poisoning and the role of media in nation-building tasks was played.
Speaking at the event, the Union Minister stated that malicious media outlets are deliberately spreading misinformation through social media platforms with the malicious intention to mislead the public and harm the peace and stability of the nation. Therefore, people should read the newspaper published by the ministry and access the website. Moreover, everyone should believe in the real situation of the country and stand with the government and the public.
He then highlighted destructive cases in 1988 that defamed the Myanmar people and the terrorist acts of terrorists today. He also mentioned the Prime Minister’s focus on youth affairs and the education sector, urging students to study hard for the development of the country, region, and community. They should fight against terrorism with a patriotic spirit and participate in the relevant sectors, as every citizen is concerned with state affairs.
Then, Rector of Yezin University of Agriculture Dr Nang Seng Huom, expressed words of thanks. During the event, the Union Minister provided 5 MRTV DTH satellite dishes and 65 DVB T2 Set Top Boxes to faculty members and students through a draw-lot. — MNA/KTZH
