Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney-General Dr Thida Oo received a delegation led by Prosecutor-General of the Russian Federation Mr Igor Krasnov in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The visit of Russian Prosecutor-General Mr Igor Krasnov is a consequence of a meeting made between Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney-General Dr Thida Oo and Russian Justice Minister Mr Konstantin Chuy Chenko during the 10th St Petersburg International Legal Forum held between 28 June and 1 July 2022 to sign two Memoranda of Cooperation between two countries.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on communication between the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Prosecutor-General Office of Russia in legal affairs, information and experiences on the law system and legislation of the two countries, holding of joint cooperation, conference, workshops and plenary sessions and sending of experts to share knowledge and learning.
Then, Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney-General Dr Thida Oo and Prosecutor-General of the Russian Federation Mr Igor Krasnov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
After the signing process, the Union minister Union attorney-general and the Russian delegation led by the prosecutor-general visited Uppatasanti Pagoda and fed the white elephants at the Yadana white elephant hall.
The Union minister then hosted lunch for the Russian delegation at Jasmine Naypyitaw Hotel and the Union minister for Foreign Affairs, the Union minister for International Cooperation and Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Dr Nikolai Listopadov joined the event.
During the visit of the Russian prosecutor-general, the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Russian Prosecutor-General Office jointly held a “Seminar on Legal Cooperation between the Ministry of Legal Affairs, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and the Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation” on 21 March at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
During the Seminar, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Legal Cooperation Mr Sergey Vladimirovich Plokhov discussed the topic “Topical direction of international legal cooperation of the Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation in the context of modern threats and challenges”, while “On the Russian experience of countering crimes in IT-sphere, including illicit turnover of cryptocurrency and other virtual assets” by Deputy Director-General of the Department of Organizations and Research Mr Denis Kunev, and a total of 75 attendees – 45 from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, eight from the Ministry of Home Affairs, seven from the Anti-Corruption Commission and 15 law students from the Naypyitaw State Academy raised the questions.
The visit of the Russian delegation led by the prosecutor-general was made during the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and the Russian Federation. During the visit, the two countries made a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the Prosecutor-General Office of Russia and held a seminar on legal cooperation enhancing the bilateral relationship and trust between the two countries and legal cooperation. — MNA/KTZH
