The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture has outlined the points to be mindful of during the Thingyan Festival.
These points advise against actions and behaviours that are contrary to Myanmar’s traditional culture and customs, using rude language that is not in line with religious teachings, engaging in rough dousing that may cause harm or injury to others, speaking directly or indirectly to tarnish the image of individuals or organizations, dressing indecently, and similar actions.
Additionally, it is advised to avoid excessive alcohol consumption and behaviours that may lead foreigners to have a negative view of Myanmar’s Thingyan traditions. — TWA/TRKM
