The Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development stated that more than one million tonnes of fertilizer will be required as input for this financial year at the coordination meeting of the Urea Fertilizer Procurement Committee on 19 October.
Regarding input requirements, the Union Minister further explained that about 1.1 million metric tonnes of fertilizer will be necessary in the upcoming winter for 10.53 million acres of summer paddy and 10 kinds of crops, including oil crops.
To address the challenges faced by farmers and increase per-acre yield of crops, plans will be developed to distribute and sell fertilizers and pesticides that meet the standards required by farmers in their agricultural activities at affordable prices. — TWA/CT
