Myanmar delegates join hands with attendees at the AICHR 39th meeting in Jakarta.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Myanmar delegation led by U Mang Hau Thang, Deputy Director-General of the ASEAN Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the 39th meeting of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) held from 19 to 22 May in Jakarta, Indonesia.
During the meeting, discussions included current developments in ASEAN, institutional matters of AICHR, the drafting of the AICHR Five-Year Work Plan (FYWP) for the 2026-2030 period, and the implementation of AICHR’s priority programmes. These programmes focus on the rights of persons with disabilities, children’s rights, disinformation and misinformation, human rights and police affairs in ASEAN, and business and human rights, among other topics.
The Myanmar representative to AICHR provided an update on Myanmar’s ongoing efforts to achieve peace, prosperity, and democracy while ensuring the rights of all citizens. — ASH/TMT
