Myanmar earns over US$ 470 million from normal marine products export

Myanmar earns over US$ 470 million from the normal export of marine products, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

Exporting through normal trade and border trade haven’t returned to pre-Covid-19 levels.

Major export destinations are Japan and European counties in normal trade and China, Thailand and neighbouring countries via Myawady, Muse, Kawthoung, Myeik, Maungtaw border trade zones. More than 20 varieties of fish, prawn and crabs, including hilsa, perch, carp and catfish, are exported.

Export earnings from marine products from April to 15 December in the 2023-2024 fiscal year stood at US$ 479.898 million, over US$ 37 million less than the corresponding period last year of US$ 517.278 million.

Myanmar exports marine products to 45 countries and it also exports live animals to neighbouring countries via the border route. – MT/ZN
