A Myanmar engineer has developed a mini-plant that can produce fuel by burning plastic waste, according to an interview with the inventor U Thant Zin Tun.

Using a global technology of his own design, he invented the plant that can regenerate diesel, petrol and refined smoke by burning plastic garbage and the diesel obtained has been tested in driving vehicles, U Thant Zin Tun explained.

“Technologically speaking, the process involves the conversion of fuel gas. The technology we are going to use is the conversion by engineering methods to regenerate liquid fuel. The raw materials can be plastic or any other material. By feeding it with plastic and all kinds of waste, my mini-plant can convert it into fuels,” he said.

Diesel is the main product while petrol and refined smoke are also produced. Depending on the design of the plant and the capital invested, the production capacity will vary, he added.

“The design of the mini-plant is my own, which I invented. A trial run was made in Budalin, Sagaing region. In Budalin, I tested the produced diesel in running a generator and driving a Chinese-made four-stroke tractor,” he said.

When he saw the impact on the beauty of nature caused by a lot of plastic waste and its burning around him, he was inspired to construct a plant that would have no impact on the environment, said U Thant Zin Tun.
