Myanmar heats engine for Asian Cup U-23 qualifiers

The Myanmar U-23 team is taking training with 25 preliminary players for the 2024 Asian Cup U-23 qualifiers to be played in September.
The Asian Cup U-23 qualifiers will be held from 6 to 12 September, and the Myanmar team is placed in Group B with South Korea, Qatar and Kyrgyzstan.
Myanmar will play against Kyrgyzstan on 6 September, Qatar on 9 September and South Korea on 12 September. Qatar will host the finals of the 2024 AFC U-23 tournament and, having already qualified, results against that team will not count.
The Myanmar U-23 team has been reorganizing since 23 August after the 2023 ASEAN U-23 tournament. U Aung Naing is handling it as the interim head coach as German head coach Michael Feichtenbeiner will also supervise the U-23 team.
Michael will oversee the team during the friendly matches against Nepal on 8 and 11 September.
The Myanmar U-23 team started training with 27 preliminary players, but two players were reduced, leaving only 25 players.
The Myanmar U-23 team will play a domestic friendly at the end of this month, after which the finalists will be selected. Team Myanmar is based on the team that competed in the ASEAN U-23 tournament. The Myanmar team was eliminated from the group stage due to poor results in the previous ASEAN U-23 tournament. — Ye Yint Lwin/KZL
