Myanmar joins 45th Meeting of High-level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (HLTF-EI)

A Myanmar delegation led by Dr Wah Wah Maung, HLTF-EI Lead and Eminent Person (EP) of Myanmar and Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, attended the 45th Meeting of the High-level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (HLTF-EI), which was held in Vang Vieng, Lao PDR, on 20-21 February 2024.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Manothong Vongsay, Vice Minister for Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR and approximately 70 representatives of Eminent Persons, High-Level Representatives and the senior officials from ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste as an observer, as well as the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN and officials from the ASEAN Secretariat were attended.
During the meeting, the three Strategic Thrusts: Integrating and Connecting Economies, Forging an Inclusive and Sustainable Future and Transforming for the Digital Future and 14 Priority Economic Deliverables for Laos PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship were discussed to set and implement during Lao PDR’s chairmanship. Moreover, the updated End-Term Review (ETR) of the AEC Blueprint 2025 and the ongoing project to complete the AEC Blueprint 2025 were updated and discussed at the meeting. Also, the recommendations for the 30th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat which will be held on 8-9 March 2024 were also discussed and prepared.
During the meeting, an interface session was held with the HLTF-EI Chair, the HLTF-EI Leads, AEC Eminent Persons and representatives of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) to take the developing of ASEAN Community Vision-2045. — MNA
