Myanmar players compete in 2022 Asian Youth Chess Championship in Bali

It is reported that Myanmar chess players are competing in the Asia Youth Chess Championship-2022, which is being held from 13 to 22 October in Bali, Indonesia.
Sai Han Thiha is competing in the U-18 Championship while Zaw Ye Htut is competing in the U-16 Championship while Hein Thant is in the U-10 Championship.
Sai Han Thiha ranked 12 in the Final Ranking and earned five points with three wins, four draws, and two losses out of nine plays.
Zaw Ye Htut grabbed Final Ranking 17 and garnered five points with three wins, four draws and two losses.
Hein Thant ranked 52nd out of 56 contestants over the age of 10.
Boys and girls aged 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 participated in the competition, and they were the first to participate in only three competitions from Myanmar.
“After this tournament, there is a Thai Open tournament that will be held in Chiang Mai. They will also compete in that tournament. In addition, there will be an East Asian Youth Tournament in Bangkok in early November. Young players will compete.
“If they become the champion there, they have a chance to directly win the international master title, so this is an opportunity for them,” said Myanmar Chess Federation President U Maung Maung Lwin.
Athletes from Myanmar, Indonesia, Viet Nam, India, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Iran, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Maldives, and Sri Lanka participated in this competition. — Bala Soe/ GNLM
