The Myanmar national women’s football team will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympic Women’s Football Asian Zone qualifiers, football authorities said.
The Asian Football Confederation will hold the Asian Zone qualifiers for the Paris Olympics in 2023 which will be divided into three stages.
The Asian Football Confederation has released the dates for the qualifying stages and will announce the format of the qualifiers and the participating teams again.
The first qualifiers will be held from 3 to 11 April 2023, the second qualifiers from 23 to 31 October, and the final qualifiers from 27 November to 6 December. The final stage of the Paris Olympic women’s football tournament will be held with a total of 12 teams, and only two teams from the Asian zone will qualify.
The Myanmar women’s team has competed in the qualifiers since the 2004 Athens Olympics, and only a few teams representing Asia have been allowed to compete in the final stage, so they have never succeeded in qualifying.
Reportedly, in the most recent 2020 Tokyo Olympic qualifiers, team Myanmar was able to reach the final qualifiers.
