Myanmar to provide preferential treatment for EV importers until 2025

Myanmar is stepping up its digital system in the financial sector and encouraging green business development while setting electric car import as a priority until 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein said in his speech at the Fifth China Quality Conference yesterday.
The conference is taking place from 1 to 2 September in Sichuan province city of Chengdu, the People’s Republic of China.
The government is giving preferential treatment for EVs and its spare parts importers including reduced taxation and also collaborating with the General Administration of Customs China–GACC to be able to effectively control the registering process of goods produced abroad, according to the minister.
Myanmar follows ASEAN Quality Assurance and Recognition of Competency Certification Systems and the country amended Myanmar National Building Code 2012 in 2016 to encourage environmentally friendly green development, to standardize building construction, to draft town planning projects and to focus on effective consumption of energy, he said.
The Fifth China Quality Conference aims to bolster economic cooperation between the countries more than expected. It also encourages to sharing of views between the organizations in the areas of quality assurance management and sharing experiences of implementing policies during eight small forums. The Matchmaking Meeting between national technological organizations and business organizations from Sichuan province is also included in the conference.
Mr Zhang Guoqing, Vice-Premier, Mr Luo Wen, Minister of the Department of State Administration for Market Regulation, Mr Huang Qiang, the governor of Sichuan Province and guests from WTO, international standardization organizations, other international organizations and business persons attended the Fifth China Quality Conference. — MNA/TH
