New passport applications allowed 6 months after lost advertisements

The passport office announced that the number of people losing or damaging their passports both within the country and abroad is increasing each month.
It is mentioned in the announcement that to apply for a new passport, individuals need to place an advertisement in any state-owned newspaper, along with confirmation letters from the ward or village administrator and the police station. The advertisement should contain their name, father’s name, citizenship scrutiny card number, and the lost passport’s number.
After six months after the newspaper advertisement, they can apply for a new passport at the passport issuing offices by presenting the original newspaper copy. The applicant must sign a self-declaration stating that the passport was lost in the country and pay a book fee of K35,000, along with the K56,000 lost or damaged fines. — TWA/CT
