More than 10,000 Myanmar tourists travelled to pay homage to Bodh Gaya, according to a local travel agency.
“There were not many travellers in 2022 after Covid-19. Normally, there used to be 35,000 to 50,000 pilgrims every year. About 15,000 visitors went there in the post-COVID-19 period. It will be over 10,000 this year,” said Ma Phyu Mar Ko from a local travel agency on Gaya Trips.
Bodh Gaya is situated in the Indian state of Bihar and has been managed by the Indian federal government since 28 May 1953, under the 1949 Places of Worship Act.
The most prominent tourist destinations to visit include Bodh Gaya, Varanasi, Sankissa, Agra (Taj Mahal and Red Fort), New Delhi, the vault of Buddha’s sacred relics, Akshardham temple, Sravasti, Kapilavastu, Lumbini, Kushinagar, Vaishali and other places. — Thit Taw/ZN
