Over 2,200 killed in over 4,500 traffic accidents in Myanmar in 8 months

A total of 2,229 people were killed with 5,869 others wounded in over 4,500 traffic accidents across the country in eight months of 2021, according to the figures released by the Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD). During the eight months from January to August, Yangon has registered the highest mortality rate with 307 deaths, followed by the Mandalay region with 274 fatalities and the Bago region with 256 deaths, according to RTAD.
The same period of last year, a total of 3,196 people were killed with 13,461 others hurt in connexion with 9,292 road accidents across the country, according to figures from the RTAD.— ACM/GNLM
