Plan underway to conduct basic safety training courses for fishermen during three-month non-fishery period

According to the Department of Fisheries, basic training courses will be conducted to ensure the safety of fishermen during the three-month closure of offshore fishing.
The offshore fishing site in Taninthayi Region will be closed during April, May and June. The training aims to provide basic safety training for fishermen. Such a course will be opened in Dawei, Myeik and Kawthoung.
The training course will comprise prevention of environmental pollution regarding the disposing into the sea.
The course also includes life safety measures, calculation, fire extinguishing and emergency measures for outbreak of fire. The officials are continuously doing educational activities to avoid throwing garbage into the sea. — TWA/KZW
