Printing & Publishing Department celebrates 52nd anniversary celebration

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn speaks on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Printing and Publishing Department yesterday.

The 52nd-anniversary ceremony of the Printing and Publishing Department (PPD) under the Ministry of Information took place in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The ceremony was attended by Union Information Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, departmental heads, staff, officials and guests.
First, a video clip recording the work of the department within 52 years was played.
Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, in his speech, said that Myanmar’s literary development is included while carrying out the objectives of the ministry -to inform, to entertain and to educate. The Sarpay Beikman, under the PPD, carries out the Myanmar literary development activities such as publishing various kinds of books, holding symposiums and literary talks and giving literary awards in successive years. The PPD also cooperates in presenting a private literary award- the Pakokku Literary Award, which is a supportive measure in promoting Myanmar literature.
He also appreciated the PPD for participating in preliminary selection winners for honorary titles, conducting development programmes of Myanmar literary and the ones from those ones by cooperating with local/foreign authors, journalist organizations, publishers and publishing industries.
He then mentioned that the construction of Sarso Beikman was to be set under the PPD.
He presented uniforms for PPD staff, certificates of honour and cash prizes to three outstanding staff who completed Civil Service Academy (Upper Myanmar).
Then, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint presented certificates of honour and cash prizes to three outstanding staff who completed the Civil Service Academy (Lower Myanmar).
The permanent secretary and departmental officials also presented certificates of honour and cash prizes to the outstanding staff of affiliated departments.
Then, the Union minister and the deputy minister conducted a raffle draw session for the staff.
