From January to March this year, the Pyinmana Sangha Hospital in Pyinmana, Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory, spent more than K 90.9 million to provide free medical treatment to 1870 patients, Dr Than Min Htut, well-known as the lantern of Pindaya, posted on his Facebook page.
The Pyinmana Sangha Hospital accepts any in-patients, whether monks or lay people.
“From January to March, 2024, we have treated 1554 monks, 197 nuns, 119 poor patients and a total of 1870 people. For these three months of treating 1870 patients free of charge, we were able to perform meritorious deeds by donating more than K 90.9 million. This means that the average monthly donation was more than K 30 million,” he said on his page.
In 2023, the hospital provided free medical treatment to 5877 monks, 937 nuns, 500 poor patients and 7314 people in total, at a cost of K 299.4 million.
These people include surgical patients, cancer patients and stroke patients, while health services have been expanded to cover CT scans, echoes, blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, eye and dental tests, dialysis, physiotherapy, dandruff treatment for novices and on-call care for the venerable Sayadaws of the monasteries.
Those wishing to donate during this period of passing over to the Myanmar New Year are invited to participate by contributing to the public medical fund of the Pyinmana Sangha Hospital, which has received K 7,636,000 from 48 well-wishers as of 16 April.
