Rail service restored: Yangon-Mandalay line back on track after sabotage

In the aftermath of a railway track destruction by KNLA and PDF terrorists, a train derailed between Kyaukdaga and Painzalok on the Yangon-Mandalay railway section, prompting a temporary closure at 4 am on 13 December.
The incident led to suspending four passenger express trains, two passenger trains, and six cargo trains on the Yangon-Mandalay route. Alternative transport arrangements were implemented to ferry passengers to Yangon Station by car.
Myanma Railways officials swiftly reloaded locomotives and trains, ensuring passenger comfort and the timely resumption of train services. The railway section reopened at 12:40 am, following relentless day-and-night efforts to repair the track.
After a thorough safety inspection, No 3 Up is set to depart from Yangon station 15 December evening, with No 5 Up and No 4 Down departing from Mandalay Station. The resumption extends beyond No 6 Down, encompassing high-speed passenger trains, freight trains, and other regular journeys on the Yangon-Mandalay railway section. — MNA/KZW
