Respect paid to veteran theatrical performers at National Theatre (Yangon) for third time

The third annual ceremony to pay respect to veteran theatrical performers from all over Myanmar was held at the National Theatre (Yangon) in Dagon Township, Yangon Region, on 7 October, according to U Nay Win, secretary of the Myanmar Theatrical Association (Central). It has been reported that 1,050 veteran theatrical performers, aged 75 years and above from various theatrical strata, were honoured with K100,000 each and other gifts.
Artistes from music, Myanmar orchestra, drama, Ramayana, traditional puppet, magic, mediums and various other forms are participating in the field of theatrical arena. The first respect-paying ceremony was held in Yangon in 2018 and the second ceremony in Mandalay in 2019. The third time ceremony was scheduled to be held in Hpa-an of Kayin State but it failed to hold the ceremony due to outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic. — ASH/KZW
