At the coordinating meeting of the Road Safety Council and Sub-Committees on 3 May, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, who also serves as the Chairman of the Road Safety Council, emphasized several key measures.
Priority will be given to installing solar systems on traffic lights across Yangon Region. Additionally, all YBS bus lines must be equipped with CCTV and telematics systems.
The chief minister also stressed the importance of testing the roadworthiness of YBS vehicles, erecting signposts, ensuring that the Road Transport Administration Department issues driving licences only to skilled drivers, enforcing traffic rules for motorbikes and tricycles now that the education period has ended, and educating pedestrians on the use of pedestrian overpasses. — TWA/MKKS
