Stimulant tablets valued at K1.49 million seized in Mayangon township of Yangon region

K1.49 billion worth of stimulant tablets were captured in Mayangon township of Yangon region, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team consisting of members of the Anti-Drug Police Force searched Than Soe, Maung Shwe Than (aka) Kyaw Than, Maung Oo Than Htay (aka) Naryaka, Hnit Oo Maung (aka) Kyetpha, Sithu Moe, Lin Lin Htoo (aka) Lin Chae, Maung Shwe Thein and Nay Zaw Latt near a restaurant at the Tawwin street in Ward 4, Mayangon township, at 3 pm on 7 January. The Myanmar Police Force captured 500,000 stimulant tablets and a Toyota Succeed.
According to the investigation, the police arrested Ma Saw Khin Kyaw (aka) Saw Khin from a house in Ward 3, Mayangon township at 6 pm on the same day with 600,000 stimulant tablets.
Similarly, the police force seized 390,000 stimulant tablets from a house hired by Than Soe who was arrested in Ward 3, Mayangon township and an AD van from a construction company of Kyaw Lin Da who is involved in the drugs trafficking in Thingangyun township.
The investigation revealed that Maung Shwe Than (aka) Kyaw Than, among the arrestees, was one of the main chain fugitives from the seizure of 1.45 million stimulant tablets near Nyaungkyo village in Pandaung township of Bago region in January 2021 and 9.04 million stimulant tablets from his house in Yekyaw village in Hmawby township. — MNA/MKKS
