The Committee on Standardization of National Costumes of National Race People organized its 2/2024 meeting yesterday.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan, who is chairperson of the committee, said submitting dress codes (male, female) for daily attire and ceremonial purposes of eight major national races to the committee plays a crucial role in the first phase according to the decisions made at 1/2024 meeting. They should include textiles, designs, colours, and charms, as well as the meanings and details of their cultural significance and approvals of the respective literature and culture troupes.
The points discussed with the committee, ministries and national race representatives will be submitted to the Myanmar National Culture Central Committee meeting, she said, calling on the invitees of the Ministry of Commerce to seek rights to ownership as the traditional costumes of national races flow into other countries.
Attendees then coordinated the discussion, and the deputy minister concluded the meeting. — MNA/KTZH
