Union Minister for Labour U Myint Kyaing and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Hla Soe visited Handa (Yangon) Garment Co., Ltd (Sport wears garment factory) in Shwelinpan Industrial Zone in Hlinethaya Township in Yangon yesterday morning and inspected the condition of the factory under the guidelines of COVID-19 preventive measures set by the Ministry of Health and Sports.
At the meeting with the officials of the factory, the Union Minister said his Ministry is coordinating with Nay Pyi Taw Council and respective region and state governments to supervise and allow the operation of factories and workplaces following the COVID-19 preventive and control guidelines. If factories and workplaces have to be closed due to the outbreak of COVID-19, it may harm the interests of the employers and employees, and affect the productivity of the country which will further weaken the economic development of the country, he continued.
He clarified that to improve the working relationship of the people, any issue should be resolved constructively and peacefully within the factory under the law.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak in Myanmar from March 2020 to August 2021, factories, workshops and departments were inspected by joint inspection teams led by the Ministry of Health under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour and Nay Pyi Taw Council/Region/State governments. A total of 6,348 factories/workplaces/departments in the Yangon Region were inspected whether they were operating under the guidelines of the Ministry of Health to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus among the employees.
Since 19 October 2020, a total of 206 factories/workplaces have been inspected via the Zoom application. — MNA
