Vehicle registration increases by over 3 times in 2022 on policy relaxation

The government relaxed vehicle import policies in 2011 and the number of vehicles rose to 7.2 million in 2022 from only 2.3 million in 2011 as the Road Transport Administration Department systematically registered vehicles and driving licences under the prevailing law and bylaw.
Member of State Administration Council Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San said that remark during the 58th Anniversary of the Road Transport Administration Department yesterday.
The Union minister said the ministry is implementing road safety activities in Myanmar as the focal department of the National Road Safety Council under the lead of NRSC and working with the regional countries and international organizations as per the Global Plan for UN’s Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021-2030). Moreover, it is serving as a focal department of the ASEAN land transport sector.

He then highlighted the important role of the department in the food, shelter and accommodation, social, economic, health and education sectors of the citizens in addition to communications with ethnic people.
Afterwards, the Union minister and the deputy minister awarded 2022 honorary medals of the State Administration Council to senior officials and good civil service awards to winners and certificates of honour and prizes to outstanding staff officers/staff at training courses. — MNA/KTZH
