A ceremony to donate rice to 1,000 members of the Sangha by Vietnamese well-wishers took place at the ancient Buddha images prayer hall of the Shwedagon Pagoda yesterday morning.
Joint-Secretary of State Sanga Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Pannadhaja administered the Five Precepts. Vietnamese well-wishers offered alms to members of the Sangha.
The rice donation ceremony to SSMNC member Sayadaws, Tipitakadhara Sayadaws, Vietnamese Sayadaws and invited members of the Sangha, totalling 1,000, was held at the central pavilion on the southern part of terrace of Shwedagon Pagoda.
After the ceremony, venerable Sayadaws including Vietnamese Sayadaws were offered day meals by Vietnamese well-wishers. In the evening, Vietnamese well-wishers led by Tipitakadhara Dhammabhandagarika Bhaddanta Indapala (Rammawady) lit 10,000 oil lamps on the platform of Shwedagon Pagoda.—Ko Ko Zaw (MNA)/KZW
