Water treatment plant project in Dala Tsp to supply 70% of drinking water needs

According to the Dala Township Water Supply Committee, 70 per cent of the construction work for 630 mm (24 inch) HDPE Main Transmission pipelines long the Dala-Twantay Road has been completed.
Pre-construction works are also underway for an international standard water treatment plant that will supply 3.3 million gallons of drinking water per day and 66,000 gallons of drinking water to meet the needs of many local people in Dala Township, Yangon Region, officials said.
Preliminary works such as widening 9,500 feet of dirt road and paving concrete road are being carried out in the water treatment plant project area in Phayagyisu village, Twantay Township.
Currently, the construction of a 630 mm (24 inch) HDPE Main Transmission Pipelines (41,569 ft) from the top of entrance road to Yangonpauk Water Supply Camp to the Service Reservoir on Kanaung Road, Dala Township is underway, said officials from Yangon City Development Committee.
At present, the Yangonpauk Water Supply Station in Twantay Township supplies 1 million gallons of water daily to the Dala Township Water Supply Station through a 24-inch diameter pipelines, and supplies water to 4,625 households in 24 wards in the township.
In the past, drinking water for Dala Township was supplied directly from the Yangonpauk Water Supply Station. A water treatment plant will now be built to supply and purify Nano Filter water.
An international standard water treatment plant project is being implemented to meet the drinking water needs of many people in Dala Township, officials said.
The 630 mm (24 inch) HDPE Pipe Connection along Dala-Twantay Road will be 23,260 feet long. Under the construction, it is now 16,478 feet long, and thus only 6,782 feet of work remains to be done.
The construction of the water pipeline is 70 per cent complete and the project is expected to be completed by 2023, officials added.—Naing Lin Kyaw (IPRD)/GNLM
