Weekly updated prices of Bayintnaung Market

Generally, in the Bayintnaung Wholesale Market, sugar prices moderately surged within April, standing at K4,700 per viss on 23 April. It fetched at K4,600 per viss on 8 April before the Thingyan Festival. At the same time, the prices of black grams, pigeon peas, and chilli turned downward, while the prices of onion, Kyukok potato, and rice trended upward.
The reference rate of palm oil increased during the Thingyan holiday. However, it has declined in post-holidays.

Onion
On 22 and 23 April 2024, a total of 210,000 visses of onion arrived in the market with high opening prices. On 23 April, the onion prices were K1,700-K2,300-K2,400-K2,500 for Seikphyu and Taungdwingyi while Myingyan onion fetched K1,650-K2,200-K2,300-K2,400.
On 22 April 2024, new onion 180,000 visses arrived in the Pakokku market with Pale K2,100 and Yawsa K2,100 per viss, respectively. On the same day, a total of 171,840 visses of onion arrived in the Myingyan market, with prices ranging between K1,300 and K2,100.

Garlic
On 23 April, Kyukok garlic fetched K12,500-K13,000 per viss, and new Shan Aungban garlic did K6,500-K7,000-K7,500-K8,000 per viss.

Potato
Potato prices on 23 April were Shan Heho potatoes K2,100 for both Ok and S1, while A1 and S2 were K1,700, respectively.

Chilli
On 23 April, the long red new chilli was priced at K4,500-K4,800 per viss; Myarni long chilli is K4,000-K4,800; Pandanaw long chilli K4,000-K4,200; Myarni long chill K4,800-K5,200; and new Sinphyukyun bell pepper was K9,000-K9,500 per viss.
Rice
On 23 April, in Yangon rice market, monsoon ordinary rice (new) was K78,500-K80,000; 90-day new ordinary was K93,000-K97,000 per bag; new Pawkywe rice was K97,000 per bag; new Ayeyawady Pawsan rice was K135,000-K145,000 per bag; Shwebo Pawsan (new) was K160,000 per bag; and sticky rice was K85,000-K88,000-K90,000 per bag respectively.

Palm oil
The reference price for palm oil from 22 to 28 April is K5,340 per viss, which is K125 higher for a viss than last week’s price.

Pulses
On 23 April, black gram RC was priced at K3,207,000; SQ/RC K3,497,000; red pigeon pea K4,170,000 per tonne respectively; violet pigeon pea K3,830 per viss; and chickpea K5,800-K6,100 per viss. — TWA/TMT
