Yangon zoological gardens to celebrate its 117th anniversary

The 117th anniversary of Yangon Zoological Gardens will be celebrated from 27 to 29 January.
The gardens ware opened in Mingala Taungnyunt Township on 25 January 1906. Now, it turned 117 years old on 25 January 2023.
“We have made all the necessary arrangements for the public to be able to relax. Game shows, quizzes and performances of tame animals will be included for children. I would like to invite the people to visit the gardens on the day of its 117th anniversary,” zoological gardens warden U Than Myint Tun told The GNLM.
The Yangon Zoological Gardens covers an area of 58.16 acres and has about 1,400 animals with 132 species.
The Yangon Zoological Gardens was run under the Ministry of Forestry but from 1 April 2011, Htoo Company has been running it with a long-term contract. — TWA/KZW
