The Board of Trustees of Mandalay Hill has announced that they will illuminate 10,000 oil lamps on Mandalay Hill during the full moon day of Thadingyut.
On 29 October, 10,000 oil lamps will be lit across the entire mountain. Additionally, the time for worship and prayer, initially set from 6 am to 6 pm, has been extended to 8 pm on that day.
On Thadingyut Full Moon Day, pilgrims will receive complimentary meals, and those who wish to donate food will also be welcome to do so. Pilgrims interested in offering oil lamps at Mandalay Hill can register with the Board of Trustees.
Advance security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of pilgrims at Mandalay Hill during the holiday.
Moreover, a festival featuring the lighting of 5,000 oil lamps will take place on the eastern side of Yadanabon Park, situated on 66th Street between 12th and 26th Streets in Mandalay.
During the festival, visitors will be provided with complimentary meals and will enjoy performances by renowned singers, the Kyaukse Elephant Dance, demonstrations of Chinlone (a traditional cane-ball show), the modern music group of Mandalay City Development Committee, and unplugged bands. — TWA/CT
