Union Minister U Shwe Lay inspects road, bridge development works in Magway and Rakhine

Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay inspected road and bridge development works in Magway Region and Rakhine State on 7 May.
During the inspection tour, the Union Minister inspected the paving of the Nay Pyi Taw-Taungnyo-Myothit-Kanpya-Magway road by the Department of Roads, Nay Pyi Taw. The 22-mile section of the road will be paved with 12 to 18 feet wide concrete pavement.
The Union Minister and party checked the road pavement along the way. They arrived at Thayet Khwar Chaung bridge between the milestone 33/1 and 33/2.
They inspected the water flow under the bridge and erosion of the Box Culvert approach road and ordered to widen the existing bridge.
The construction of the 180-feet-long bridge between the milestone 62/7 and 63/0 was also inspected and instructed necessary work.
Afterwards, the Union Minister and party checked the construction work of the Minbu-An road.
During the road construction officials meeting, he said among the three main gateways to Rakhine State- Minbu-An-Sittway road; Pyay-Padaung-Taung-up road and Ngathinechaung-Gwa-Thandwe road; the Minbu-An-Sittway road is one of the main roads for mainland and state communication and freight flow. He added the need to widen the road’s curves as it is a mountain road; to build directional signs, guard post and guard rail; to record the data by year, and immediately widen the road, which can cause danger.
The Union Minister reached the An valley at the Rakhine State border and instructed them to pay attention to standards and quality in upgrading roads.
In contrast, the Director of the Directorate of Roads explained the completion of the concrete pavement to the 18-feet-wide road between 151 km and 153 km.
The Union Minister also made a detailed inspection of the strength and construction of the Thayu (Pepadone) bridge and ordered to conduct a feasibility study to construct another bridge with a load capacity of 60 tonnes near the bridge. — MNA
