Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo attends 8th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus

State Administration Council Member Union Minister for Defence General Mya Tun Oo led the Myanmar delegation including Director-General Col Nyein Chan of the Department of International and Internal Affairs and officials to the 8th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus chaired by Brunei Darussalam via videoconferencing yesterday.
The defence ministers of 10 ASEAN member countries and eight partner countries including ASEAN Secretary-General attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Union minister and other delegates exchanged views on security challenges of Myanmar, current progress of the country, changing defence and security measures and other cooperation works, proper responses to COVID-19, natural disasters related matters, cooperation works between Myanmar and Russia in combating terrorism under ADMM-Plus framework and other issues.
After the meeting, the delegates also agreed to hold the meeting annually instead of once every two years.
Moreover, the officials issued the Bandar Seri Begawan declaration in commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the ADMM towards a future-ready, peaceful and prosperous ASEAN.—MNA
