Working Committee to address impact of COVID-19 on country’s economy meets

The 6th meeting of the Working Committee (6/2021) was virtually held yesterday morning at Office No. (1), Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations. The meeting was convened with the aims to discuss cooperation measures in the context of SOPs for the swift and smooth importation of COVID-19-related medicines and medical equipment during the upcoming public holidays, and to have price stability of consumer goods.
The meeting was chaired by U Aung Naing Oo, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations. Member of the working Committee Deputy Ministers, from Ministry of Planning and Finance and Ministry of Commerce, Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Myanmar and representatives of the Ministries concerned attended the meeting.
In the meeting, the Chairman of Working Committee discussed the issues reported by States/Regions Monitoring Team of the COVID-19 Fund, the implementation actions for COVID-19 hit businesses that are submitted via respective ministries and Myanmar Economic Recovery Plan (MERP) drafting process. In addition, the Working Committee stressed the importance of releasing true and reliable information in a timely manner to the public in order to cope with the impact of spreading fake news among the communities.
The meeting also discussed relief measures carried out by concerned ministries, future plan of actions and issues raised by the business community. —MNA
