Alms-food offered at Yangon City Hall to commemorate 74th Martyrs’ Day

The congregation led by the MoRAC Union Minister are taking the Five Precepts in the 74th Martyrs Day commemoration event at Yangon City Hall yesterday.

Alms-food was donated to senior Buddhist monks as a commemoration service to the martyrs of national independence at the meeting room of the City Hall of the Yangon City Development Committee at 10:30 am yesterday.
Chairman of the Central Committee on the 74th Martyrs’ Day Ceremony and Union Minister for Religion Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, Chairman of Yangon Region Administration Council and Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee U Hla Soe, Commander of Yangon Region Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Yangon Region Administration Council Member (1) Colonel Win Tint, Chief Justice of Yangon Region High Court Daw Thin Thin Nwet, the Yangon Mayor, committee members and invited guests attended the ceremony.
First, the audience received the Five Precepts from Sayadaw Bhaddanta Thumingala, the patron monk of Nyaungdon Pariyatti Pali University, Maha Gandha Vasaka Panita Pali University, Yangon Region Sangha Nayaka Committee.
Next Sayadaws (Buddhist monks) preached sermons and shared merits for the fallen leaders, followed by the donation of alms-food for day-meals to the members of Sangha.
Afterwards, the congregation paid homage to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Thumingala and poured water drops to dedicate the merit for General Aung San and the other martyrs. — MNA
