MoC makes continuous efforts to ensure imports of essential medical supplies

The Ministry of Commerce is working hard to ensure people have access to essential medical supplies which are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, arranging the continuous importation on public holidays.
Yesterday, a total of 1,117 oxygen concentrators were imported via airways at the Yangon International Airport. In addition, 780 test kits, one oxygen storage container, 45 tonnes of liquid oxygen, 5,614 empty oxygen containers, two oxygen refills, 1,344 oxygen concentrators, 8,150 PPE suits and 70 tonnes of masks were imported through border trade points and seaports.
A total of 987 tonnes of liquid oxygen, 72 tonnes of oxygen cylinders, eight liquid oxygen storage containers, six oxygen distributors, 106,905 tonnes of empty oxygen containers, 22 oxygen plants, two oxygen refills, 10 oxygen generators, 73,904 oxygen concentrators, 151,048 test kits, 496,662 PPE suits, 82 tonnes of gloves and 1,105 tonnes of masks have been imported by far in August.
Of 79 liquid oxygen bowsers imported between 1 July and 16 August, 61 of them drove to Yangon, 11 to Mandalay, two to Bago, four to Mawlamyine and one to Thaton respectively. Among 30 oxygen plants, four were transported to Yangon, five to Lashio, four to Bago, two to Pakokku, three to Mandalay, two to Hpa-an, two to Mawlamyine, one each to Taunggyi, Thanbyuzayat, Magway, Dawei, Wakema, Myittha, Kyaukpadaung and Mogaung respectively.

It is reported that the Ministry of Commerce is allowing the importation of COVID-19 devices in accordance with the SOP priority negotiated by relevant departments, and announcements related to the imports of medical supplies and equipment are posted on commerce.gov.mm.—MNA
