The Social Security Board of the Ministry of Labour held the National-Level Social Security Board Meeting (1/2021) via videoconferencing in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Union Minister for Labour U Myint Kyaing, in his capacity as the Chairman of the National-Level Social Security Board, Deputy Minister U Win Shein, the Director-General and officials of the Social Security Board, representatives of the board, employers and employees joined the meeting online.
During the meeting, the Union minister said the Social Security Board is working hard together with the international organizations for four types of reforms such as IT Reform, Medical Reform, Administrative Reform and Legal Reform.
He also talked about the preparations to offer medical treatment for COVID-19 positive patients at the workers’ hospitals in Yangon, Mandalay and Htantabin, COVID-19 tests of PUI patients during the outbreak of pandemic and transfer of patients to the hospitals authorized by the Ministry of Health.
He then highlighted the 40 per cent of social security fees granted during the first wave of COVID-19 – K21,627.090 million for 857,757 workers of 9,017 factories and industries, while K48,713.995 million for 768,684 workers of 9,116 factories and industries in the second wave, and other plans to provide the social security fees to the remaining workers.
Moreover, it also granted K828.551 million as 40 per cent of the salaries of 14,494 employees who were unemployed from 22 factories burned by arson attacks between 14 March and 30 September.
The officials also vaccinated the workers who registered the social security against COVID-19 and out of 882,595 workers, 548,867 workers have received first jabs and 333,728 have fully inoculated as of 18 November in Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyawady and Bago regions.
Then, the Director-General of the Social Security Board reported on the completion of works based on the decisions made at the previous 1/2020 meeting, future work plans and proposals and other attendees coordinated the discussion.
Moreover, the representatives of employers, the Chairman of the Myanmar Garment Entrepreneurs Association, the general secretary of AFFM-IUF and the Chairman of MSC clarified the respective matters and the Director-General of the Social Security Board made decisions regarding eight points and 49 proposals at the meeting with the approval of the Union minister.
Finally, the Union minister urged the department concerned, employees and employers, to work together in the future. — MNA
