MoC Union minister inspects roads, infrastructures in Yangon Region

Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay visited the construction site of a five-storey extension of the Orthopaedic Hospital in Kyimyindine Township, Yangon Region on 21 November.
The Director-General and his team explained the construction works for each financial year.
On the submissions, the Union Minister praised them for the quality and standard of hospital construction work and urged them to have timely completion of funding activities.
The Union minister instructed officials to coordinate the needs of the hospital as per the specifications.
After that, the Union minister donated K1 million to medical Superintendent Dr Ye Myint Aung for use in the development of the hospital and inspected the construction site.
Afterwards, the Union minister and party arrived at the construction site of Dala Bridge (Yangon side) and the responsible persons explained the working conditions.
On the submissions, the Union Minister said that the companies responsible for the construction work for the timely completion of the bridge need to follow the project plan.
Coordinating with relevant organizations to ensure the smooth operation of the bridge construction work is essential during the COVID-19 period.
The Dala Bridge is important for the friendship between the two countries and will provide an opportunity for Myanmar engineers to exchange technologies.
The Union minister called for speedy completion of the construction work.
Afterwards, the Union minister and party inspected the construction of approach bridges on the Yangon and Dala sides.
Next, U Kyaw Swa Tun, Acting Director of Construction Task Force-1, Department of Bridges explained the excavation work of the 2,428-foot-long Seikkyi Khanaungto Bridge to be built across the Twantay Canal and the work plan to be carried out in the future.
The Union Minister instructed the necessary processes.
Afterwards, the Union minister and party arrived at the Twantay-Dala road section operated by the Department of Highways.
Deputy Director-General of the Department of Urban and Housing Development of Yangon Region U Myint Naing explained the development situation of Dala.
Next, Yangon Region Highways Department Director U Htin Kyaw explained the quality control work being carried out and the upgrading of roads in the southern district into 24-foot-wide concrete roads in each financial year.
The Union minister also inspected the work on paving the 24 feet wide Twantay-Dala road.
Next, the chief engineer and officials from the Bridge Maintenance Task Force explained the maintenance works of the Twantay Cable-Stayed Bridge and Pun Hlaing Bridge.
The Union minister instructed the responsible persons to cooperate with the Yangon Region Government for regular and systematic inspections of the bridges for long-term sustainability. — MNA
